Remember me?

Hola!

It's been a long time since I last posted, I know.

I was really busy with uni, and I didn't have much time to do nail art anymore, and I guess I started seeing blogging as a bit of a "chore" and found it easier to post plain nails on instagram rather than write a whole blogpost. I dunno, I'm not really sure why I stopped blogging in all honesty.

But now that I'm FINALLY finished university for good (not got my results yet though haha...dear God...), I hopefully have more time to start up my nail art again, and possibly start up my nail shop too. Now that there's other social networks than facebook to promo on (by that I just mean instagram), it seems like it might be easier than previously to have an Etsy. I'll admit that very few people in my "real" life know about my blog and my shop, thanks to an unsupportive friend that basically made me embarrassed to have a blog let alone an Etsy...But hopefully I'll now be able to put more time and effort into something I enjoy doing, and hopefully you guys will enjoy it too.

I'll still carry on doing the odd high street haul, although they'll never be as good as the likes of people on youtube haha..

Hopefully talk sooner than later!

Ciao!

Rambling Apologies...

Okay, so I didn't quite do as many extra posts during the holidays as I'd hoped...lol. Mainly cos I enjoyed just lazing about, and I was actually enjoying christmas for once, with my boyfriend and his family (my dad usually works during the holidays, and my mum isn't the biggest fan of crimbo...). I've kind of enjoyed the break from doing nail designs, it's gotten to the point where I feel people expect something from me every time I see them, so I started feeling pressurised to do some form of design, which I really didn't want to happen as I love doing nail designs so much. Doing nail designs have been a bit harder for me since I started 3rd year at uni, not because I couldn't think of any designs, but having time to do designs as I get coursework a lot of the time, or I have notes to rewrite. And with me practically living at my boyfriend's flat, I obviously don't have my full polish collection at his, nor the little stick on gemmy/fimo thingies, so if I ever have a random epiphany for a really good design, I dont ever get to do it since I rarely have all the materials needed with me. I've been mainly wearing plain nails, or just easy designs like polka dots which I'm sure you guys have seen billions of times.

I'll be honest and say I'm not sure if I'll be posting much between now and May, when my end of year exams are. Both my modules are year long modules, so instead of having short modules where you get christmas exams and start a new module in the next term/semester, I carry on the same module, so it means I have TONNES of revision to do, plus I have a 2,500 word essay and a poster presentation to do this term, along with other coursework, so it'll be a super busy term for me. I don't want to shut down  my blog, since i've put so much work and time into this, but thought I'd let you guys know. I might start doing swatch posts so fill in the breaks between nail design posts, and maybe pop along to Boots more often ;)

But yeah, I'm kind of bummed out that I rarely have time to do design posts like i used to, like mroe complicated ones like my pokemon or first pacman nails. I've ntoiced my designs lately have become more simplified, which is still good as it shows that you don't need to be an expert to do nail designs, but I kind of enjoyed spending aaages doing my nails, and having everyone oooh-ing and aaah-ing. Gadz. Although come May, I should be free to do more designs.

So in conclusion to this ramble, I'm sorry for posting less designs as I have little time/resources, but will hopefully post more swatches/Boots hauls :)

Sorry for being AWOL!

Heyheyhey guys,

sorry I haven't posted in aaages, my exam/class test thingy is on the 12th of Dec, which only really leaves me a week and a bit after lectures finished to study one and a half lever arch folder's worth of stuff. yikes. The test is only worth 10% so IF I do bad, then it's not as huge a deal if it was an exam, but I]m still worried about it cos it's our first exam/test type thing cos I've only had coursework so far :(

Anyways, I'll hopefully be around a bit more after the 12th, although I have a 5 page report and a critical review to do, and I'm supposed to start doing research for my lib project/poster presentation over christmas too :p However, I od have at least one Boots haul post to do and I got tagged for another Leibster award so have to do that too!

Anyways, back to the mass of notes now...hope yous are enjoying the winter so far, and hope it's appropriately snowy and not icey wherever you are! or maybe even sunny...I'd like it to be sunny tbh :p

see ya!

When Uni Gets In The Way :(

Aloha lovely people, it's been a long while :(

I've been kept busy with uni related things, so I haven't done many designs, and if I have, it's been easy peasy (i.e. pointless) designs. But I've missed writing (albeit bad) posts, so I've compiled my lame attempts in one post so as not to pain your eyes hehe.

To be truthful, my timetable is fairly empty compared to other subjects, although I'm usually always in at 9, I'm rarely in past 12, never mind till 5 (which I thought would happen like every day lol). But I usually spend the rest of my day re-writing my lecture notes and googling extra notes. And I also have to start doing research for an extended essay/mini dissertation I have to do next term. So by the time I've finished doing ntoes, it's time for dinner, and then I'm usually too tired to do anything super intensive. Feels odd being so busy :p

So, with all this time spent writing notes of some form, I've been mostly sporting plain colours, and have only really done 2 designs since my last proper design post :(

I did however, purchase some of the Barry M Gelly range, since I had some extra money in my account, and I got a 20% discount email from Barry M, so I thought why not?! :P I only purchased a few, most of which I can't remember the name of...but I purchased the orange, purple, teal and the dark blue. I've tried the purple and the dark blue, and they are pretty shiney, I didn't even bother with topcoat! So if you've a lazy kinda gal/guy (you never know! :p ), then the Gelly's can be opaque in 1 to 2 coats, and don't necessarily need top coat either, perfect :)

Anyways, one of the designs I did, was an anorexic drip design (I have a habit of making my drips rather bootilicious XD)

I used the dark blue Barry M Gelly, with the Models Own white nail art pen, which helped achieve the skinnier drips as I usually use a brush to do them. I quitw like the effect actually, should've used a pen in the first place hehe!

The next design that I'm also currently sporting is a half assed Halloween-esque design, with glow in the dark polish over Barry M Spring Green, and suing white and black polish to make random googly eyes :)

I'm not sure if this even looks remotely Halloween appropriate, but I think it's the shade of green (and the fact it's October) that makes me think of Halloween? I'm hoping I should have enough time to do some Halloween themed nails like last year, since I ditched out on the Olympics thing, but we shall see what uni has in store :P

Hopefully I'll get back to posting better designs soon, I miss doing my nails :(

I Swear I'm Stll Here!

Hello people,

Just a quick mini post while I have access to the internet :o

Mr Lac. has recently gone back to uni in Glasgow, which obviously means he's moved to a new flat (unless he wanted a beeyatch of a commute from Edinburgh lol), and said new flat does not have internet yet :/ Even though I do technically kind of still live at home, I more or less live with Mr Lac. and go wherever he goes due to having various family issues at home and thus finding a 2nd home with Mr Lac. SO, having no internet and having my polishes spread between 2 houses whilst I'm trying to juggle my stuff between the new flat and my home, means I've not had much time/opportunity to do any nail art :(

Mr lac. got a summer full time job with Boots in Edinburgh at summer, and he got kept on for one day a week, so I came home with him this weekend, so I have internet :D I'm currently in the middle of (hopefully) doing some tribal nails, so I hope to post them at some point tonight...or whenever the next time I have access to internet is...But I go back to uni on Tuesday (3rd year, eek...) so I should be able to post soon...Mr Lac and his flatmate are getting internet installed on the 22nd, so everything should fine and dandy soon.. :D

Anyways, sorry for being missing so long! :(

Hopefully see you guys soon :D

First Nail Sale! :D

Hello my lovely nail peeps, hope you guys are well and preparing to go back to school/college/uni or just working in the big bad world as a grown up :)

This isn't really a nail art related post, but it's just to celebrate my first sale on Etsy :)

Etsy were nice enough to send my an email hehe

You may or may not know that I currently have an Etsy shop with a few false nail sets for sale! There's only a few designs, as I doubt this will kick off in a huge way, but have a look to see if there's any you like, and you can also request a custom design if you don't like anything that's listed :)

Sorry for the lack of nail posts, I've been having some more plain jane weeks, but shall hopefully have a nail art post soon! :)

Commenting And New Post Soon!

Hello people, hope you guys are well and enjoying/avoiding the Olympics madness!

I wa splanning on avoiding it, but the gymnastics and diving has sucked me in :o The opening ceremony wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, I liked the latter half of it once it got to the more music-y bit, rather than the history type stuff...zzz...

Anyhows, sorry I haven't posted, I've been ill with a cough/cold and maybe a bit of stomach flu...or a severe dislike to Covonia hehe.

I also wanted to add, that I'm finally getting round to replying to comments anyone has left on my posts. For some reason, my laptop would never let me reply or post comments (it would vanish after I hit reply D: ), but I'm on Mr L's desktop just now and I can FINALLY reply to all you lovely people that have left comments :D

New post to come soon (not Olympics related f.y.i lol), I just need to find that rascal of a camera cable :/

I'm (Finally) On Etsy!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lacquerised

There's only 3 sets on the shop just now, I have plans to do a set of the butterfly nails, but I don't have my black with me >_<

Anyhows, have a look, suggest any changes (my banner isn't the best, I fail as MS paint aha!), pass on the link to anyone who might be interested!

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers! :D

Things Are Finally Happening!

Hello folks,

just to let you know I might not post for another wee while yet! I've finally got the courage to start selling nail sets on etsy, so I'll be busy-ish painting nail sets for that (only a few though, dont want to get ahead of myself!) and after doing one set last night, I realised doing painting nail sets with ready painted nail isn't a good idea. So I'm currently sporting blank nails, which quite frankly horrifies me...

But hopefully I'll get back to posting normally soon! ^_^

Swirly Mess

Long time no speak folks! ;)

As you may be able to tell from the more recurring posts that I am already bored of summer and seem to go back to doing my nails for something to do :p

This design is my lazy attempt at water marbling, by just  blobbing on 2 or more polish colours onto the nail and swirling them together with  dotting tool or needle. I've yet to actually give water-marbling a shot, but it seems too much hassle, like making sure the water and polishes are at the same temperature, and getting polishes of similar viscosity etc. Whereas with dry-marbling (not sure if that's the official term of my version, but let's go with it lol) is a lot easier with a LOT less mess :)

BROWN: OPI  - San-tan-tonio
BLACK: Barry M - Black
I'm currently trying out the X-large sizing option for the photo, as it lets you see more detail (I currently use large) but I don't want the photos to be IN YOUR FACE y'know? :p

I would like to apologise for the wear and tear of my cuticles and just generally the area around my skin -_- The blue polish from my precious design stained my skin as I was taking it off D:

I also have a confession to make...as you may be able to tell, I don't actually take care of my cuticles as much as I should... *DUN DUN DUNNNNNN* I just find it all a bit of a faff to take care of my cuticles...I do have Sally Hansen's Cuticle Remover, and Burts Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter, but my cuticles never seem to end up nice and lovely :( I kind of expected the Sally Hansen stuff to magically remove my cuticles rather than just soften them I guess. I have a cuticle pusher but that doesn't seem to do the trick, but then again I'm kind of scared to use those scary cuticle clippers that look like pliers. I have th8is image of me somehow pulling my nail off 0_0 However, I am getting into the habit of using The Body Shop's Almond Hand & Nail cream so hopefully that should make things a bit better!

Till next time!

If Nothing Ever Changed There'd Be No Butterflies....

As you can tell from the new post, I am free from all things examinable and uni related! (at least until resits start...which I hopefully don't have to do...argh...) WARNING: This post becomes rather rambly after the photo, so you can stop reading afterwards if you wish XD

Moving on, I realised it'd been around 2 months since I'd done a design...was quite disheartening...darn exams! I'm not sure why I decided to do butterfly wings, I thought they looked lovely on a tumblr photo I'd seen, (the person used metalic polishes though, so they looked more...sheeny?...Is that even a word?...Obviously vocabulary is my strong point ¬_¬ ), so I thought I'd give it a wee bash. I don't have many metallic polishes since I'm not a huge fan of pearly/metallicy finishes, so I just used creme finishes instead.

To create the base, I used Rimmel Lasting Finish 280 Sunshine but it was so streaky and patchy even with 3 coats, that I ended up sponging over it with a yellow polish anyways. The red/orange gradient was done by sponging too, generally coming in from the corner of the nail rather than just the bottom as I was attempting to make the wings almost diagonal looking? However, my lack of practising drawing the black outlines led to  the majority of the nails looking...well, shit XD

But I managed to get the hang of the method for a few of the nails (middle and pinky) so I definitely know what to do for next time. I then just added a few white dots on the tip of the nail, smeared on a fast dry topcoat (it's become rather gloopy!) and ta-daaaaaaah...monarch butterfly wings!...ish... ¬_¬

All colours from ebay!

So, a few posts ago I said something about selling some false nail sets online (either folksy or etsy) to make a bit of money over summer and to give me something to do. I'm still planning to do that, so hopefully should start things rolling around next month once I get supplies in like false nails, glue, etc. Not sure of which designs to do though, as the seller I found on ebay for false nail sets only does them in batches of 5, and I dont want to buy too many in case this just epicly falls flat on it's arse and I'm left with tonnes of nails just hanging about not bought by anyone... Although after calculating how much everything would be, it shouldn't cost too much for eveything so it wouldn't be too much of a loss if this fails :)

Sounds quite scary that I'm opening a kind-of-but-not-really shop :/ It's been more or less a year since I started messing about with polish designs (the polish obsession has been ingrained for a good few years obviously) and now I''m considering selling some designs...I wasn't even expecting to create a blog, and when I did, I didn't expect to even gain one follower never mind 12...12 followers is nothing compared to the more "famous" polish bloggers, but it's a lot to me and I appreciate that people have spent time reading my mindless rambles haha!

Anyways, I shall keep you posted once my "shop" starts if you'd like to purchase my questionable designs or you can buy them as a gift for someone :)

Farewell and have a nice day! Till next time!

The End Is Nigh...

Hello!

Long time no blog...or do nails thanks to those pesky little things called exams! But only have one left on Thursday, so hopefully shall start doing some nail-y things by next week after a few days break *fingers crossed* Not going to lie, I have been watching tv and stuff, but I dunno, I feel like doing designs requires a lot of time and patience, and watching tv just requires some staring...so it requires less brain power XD

Anyhows, I have a few ideas in my head (what little room is left thanks to all these drugs, cells and diseases I have to know...) so hopefully they'll come to fruition, since I've had plenty of designs that epicly fail when I do them! D:

The exams have been bleeeeuuugh as they usually are, but one thing has been keeping me cheery...and that's wee Zingy and his boppy dance moves :3

Apparently there's a petition to make Zingy an actual toy, and I really, REALLY hope EDF do, I love this wee dude :3

Anyways, got to get back to the BGT results ;) Ciao!

I Got A Blog Award - Wowzers!

Heylo folks,

Sorry been away from posting, but it's revision period for summer exams atm, so all I've been doing is plain block colours. Mr Laq. got me the Julie G for Jesse's Girl Cosmetics nail polish line as an anniversary present, so I've been trying them out. They're pretty decent considering they're $3.99 each (Mr Laq. got me the collection as a whole, but I can't seem to find the link for it), and the range of colours is varied, but the brush is hard to work with and some colours can be streaky and take up to 4 coats to get opaque :( However, Julie has recently announced that she's doing a permanent Jesse's Girl line, with a new formula! So hopefully yhe new line will be a bit better, nothing sucks as muhc as a crap brush...

Anyways, returning from the tangent, I got my first ever blog award! :D
It was totally unexpected and would like to thank Anna from Anna's Dope Blog for brightening up my dreary day of studying :)

I dont expect my blog to be one of those well known ones, I just have it like a wee portfolio, so I can see how I've progressed in my designs (and to make sure I dont spend time making a "new" design to find out I've already done a similar one haha), and to also jot down my train of thought for each design.

*edit* I realised that actually, none of my friends actually know I have a blog...that's how much I'm not expecting this to turn into a Thing XD

I had to google what liebster meant, and it means lovely or  favourite
Kind of like a pet name, like darling (I think..)
